A simple pictorial explainer. Work in progress...
Supplies
Gather together the supplies. If you use the links to Amazon, I get a small commission. I will only link to products I have used:
Resin. I've used the resin from Walmart and it works fine. This is the resin I am currently using.
Silicon mold. I use the ones from Walmart. You can also use shells, jar lids, mint tins...
Stuff: holy cards, magazines, junk mail, old Magnificats, shells, beads, dried flowers, broken rosaries, metals, trinkets, Christmas cards...etc!
Self-explanatory, but do extras in case you have extra resin to use up.
I made some thin clear resin "blanks" to help me plan and trace.
Use the DIY tool to trace backgrounds.
Make sure to follow the directions on resin. It is typically a 50/50 mix. It matters to get it right. Ask me how I know. WEAR GLOVES.
Make sure to stir for the required amount of time. It matters. Ask me how I know.
Labels, flowers, backgrounds, beads, medals, etc.
Try to cover as much as the mold as possible.
Add your main images and text and pour more resin.
Unless you use a gluegun to keep everything in place, things like text and glitter will try to float around. Use a skewer or toothpick to put back in place. I do this while I am cleaning up. After about 30 minutes, the resin has hardened enough.
